Dress: (as skirt) Boohoo
Belt: Vintage YSL
Glasses: Le Specs
considering the age of everything i am wearing, nothing other than my new Boohoo dress is available to purchase anymore! when i bought this dress, i actually got it a little too small. so i love how tight it is around my waist, but not so much around my neck! to the point that i had to cut away at the neckline…but that’s another story for another time. however, i have been trying to think of ways to dress a little more modest. not that i’ve ever been one for cleavage and sassy, tight clothing. but i think being a young christian girl, it can be hard to find a good compromise when going to the clothing stores. especially when you have legs as short as mine! but apart from trying to match your morals, i think that super revealing clothing is just, well, not as cool as it used to be. people want to see style more than skin? i dono. anyway i think that layering has really helped me. lord knows i love a pair of short-shorts, but i usually pair it with a t-shirt. and i love a low back, or a thin strap, but usually with full length pants. so here is a classic example of layering a t-shirt over a dress, and knotting the skirt. something i often do. the little knot trick keeps the skirt long enough, but gives it a little shape. i don’t know. what do you think? we will continue to explore this. being beautiful and feeling feminine and cool, without literally showing the world your womanhood. ya feel?
well, it has been just over a month since bella and i returned from our wintery new york vacay. and i realised, i haven’t really said one thing about it. so here it is, my report on the world’s greatest city…
that was certainly my perception before arriving. if you’ve read my previous posts, you may recall me confessing my fear of new york not living up to my carrie bradshaw/woody allen/breakfast at tiffany’s type expectations. and honestly, the holiday was no comparison to these movie depictions. but. it was an absolutely amazing time.
we arrived early in the morning, and were greeted by JFK. not the most stunning of airports, but considerably bigger and more populated than perth! honestly that day was 1 degree celsius and we thought we had hit the antarctic. we were ignorant to the fact we were about the enter what we later knew as, the polar vortex, and 1 degree would be like a summer’s day. our coldest experience was walking to the new york public library in -12 with stupid ice cold winds. we were so cold. like freezing. like so cold we walked past grand central station and didn’t even realise… don’t judge. we were stressed. to add to our cold, i thought it would be a highly intelligent idea to not bring any flat boots with me. so, i wore my wang boots. like my brand new alexander wang boots through the dirty snow. not my best idea, but at least i looked good freezing my everything off.
but lord knows, even in freezing climates, we didn’t let anything stop us from shopping. i enjoyed the touristy things, but honestly, nothing compared to the shopping and great food that we experienced. some would say 3 and a half weeks of shopping and eating was the perfect new york experience. two wog girls unleashed in the city, it was like restaurant heaven! there are honestly a million stories to tell, i actually have no idea how to recount such an experience. but here are a few little pics i took on the one day my slr and i left the house together plus some iphone picos. i’ll slowly share my purchases with you as we move forward and in to slightly warmer weather! don’t worry, there won’t be anything i don’t show!
so, in summary, new york was bloody great. i can tell because i keep dreaming about it…
one of the greatest experiences of my life.
say hello to my little friends.
correy & lyon – a beautiful new perth jewellery label. the kind of pieces that scream cool in a polite and understated kind of way. maddy and i were very excited to receive our correy & lyon mail the other day, and we just had to know a little more. so, with out further ado, let us introduce you to the brains (and fingers) behind this new creative work, kristy. here are just a few things we wanted to know…
Name: Kristy Correy
Born: I’m a child of the 80’s and a Valentine’s Day baby
Siblings: I’m a middle child… Older sister and younger brother
I have a very eclectic taste in music, listening to everything from Beck to the new Beyonce album.
Nicholas Ghesquiere, Pheobe Philo, Kenzo and Acne are probably my favs at the moment.
Favourite travel destination:
New York, London and Berlin (I have family and friends in all these places)
What triggered the creation of Correy and Lyon?
I was living in Berlin for a while and all my friends there are in the creative industries and it inspired me to do my own thing again.
What made you decide to leap from your previous fashion ventures to jewellery?
I could never really find any jewellery that I wanted to wear on a daily basis so I decided to create my own and I also wanted a business that I could run from anywhere in the world.
How did you decide on the name?
The name is a homage to my family, it is my surname and my mothers maiden name.
What is your vision for Correy & Lyon?
Evolving the range and venturing into using stones and creating a few statement pieces and eventually expanding into other accessories.
What can we expect to see in the near future?
I have a handful of new designs that will be available within the next month that I am very excited about!
Where can we buy it?
and here’s a few more picos…
we’re pretty excited about what new goodies will be coming! great materials, great design, and at a great price. yay. thank you kristy.

well, here’s something you don’t see every day.
me, in joggers. you see, i’ve always had this weird mindset when it comes to joggers. i’ve just never liked the way they looked. so much so that i only wore converses for so many years of my school sporting life! but, since everyone has been wearing groovy nikes and looking, well, groovy, i have decided to attempt this groove. i found these
groovy good looking sneakers at the Stella McCartney for Adidas store in miami. if i had known at that stage how much money was in my bank account, i probably wouldn’t have walked out with them. nevertheless, i was naive and wi-fi-less, so they are here and they are on my feet. i guess they are pretty sporty. like, i will wear them running (one day) but i somehow feel like the colour and the pattern makes them that much more fashion-y, and therefore acceptable for normal non-sport wear. i think i need to give this sport-chic look another go, in those times when i want to put on the old faithful all stars! but they are particularly more supported / bouncy / comfortable than my converses! those are my thoughts.
to doing things you never thought you would (even if it is only in relation to footwear)…
