the other night jordy and I went on a picnic, and this was my outfit. well. I actually wore converses but I thought if we were going somewhere fancy I would wear these shoes. so, this is my would-have-been outfit if we were being fancy…
top: Seed Herritage
shoes: Senso ‘Vale’
lipstick: NARS ‘Funny Face’
jordan actually bought these shoes for maddy at christmas. i feel like i just chose them for him to buy her because i wanted to wear them. it’s usually the way it works with us though, our wardrobe is mostly communal. one thing i like about this outfit is how exaggerated it is. like the shorts aren’t super tight, and the frill is doing its thing, then the shoes are like hello i have buckles! but i feel because the shoulders are exposed and the shorts are well, short, that it works. if you’re body is a little too overcome by big bouncy shapes then you can get a little lost and end up looking like a ball, but the shoulders and legs are a dead giveaway that i am not in-fact a ball. do you see what i mean?
anyway, i’m pretty excited to show you our new site. but it’s not ready quite yet. so watch out for that one! i’m sure we will make a big fuss of it when it arrives! hope you all had a great Australia Day (or just a good monday for the few non-Australians.) also still thinking about cutting my hair. i’m in a massive state of confusion and i don’t want to act on impulse. i should probably focus my energy on something more productive than whether or not to cut my hair… until next time.
one of my favourite things is to wear pretty little dresses with converses. there’s just something so comforting about it. the truth is, as much as i’d like to think i wear heels all the time wherever i want, i don’t. so there’s joy in knowing i’m wearing something pretty, but i’m comfortable and no one is going to judge me for wearing heels before 7pm. (it’s a real thing that exists in perth.)
dress:The Fifth (couldn’t find this colour!)
bracelet: its like, really old
lipstick: Bobbi Brown ‘Dusty Pink’
i picked this dress up at the david jones boxing day sales so it was pretty cheap. if i were a few feet taller i would definitely wear this without a belt, so you get that cute little shifty shape. but unfortunately my little legs just don’t permit that kind of thing. regardless, i like the dress. very easy to wear if you want to look a little bit fancy in a hurry (due to the shape) and nice that it’s not black. probably the only thing i own in that colour too, although, i wouldn’t mind it in stripes. i’m a sucker for stripes.
on a side note, any of you that have read my older posts would know that creating blog post titles is really one of my least favourite activities. so i’ve decided i need something fun to keep me inspired enough to post. so i’m going to make it my aim that every post would be some sort of pun. a common phrase or saying, tweaked with my outfit details. sorry if you don’t care – neither do i, that’s why i’ve invented this game for myself. so, see you next time. probably with the most un-funny title you’ve ever seen.
i often feel with summer, there is this certain unspoken law of casualness that we all seem to apply to in our dressing. it could be an australian thing, or a perth thing. or maybe it’s all in my mind. regardless, i find myself always opting for the casual options. shorts, t-shirts, little cotton dresses and sandals. it’s like we think it’s too hot to be getting dressed up. that being said, i’m not complaining. one of my ultimate favourite outfits is a good oversized tee and a pair of shorts. exhibit a:
t-shirt: MLM Label
shorts: Scanlan and Theodore
nails: Mecca Cosmetica ‘Phrynia’
glasses: Zero UV
when you find a good cut in a tee or a pair of shorts, you just get so much use out of them! i think it’s the cut of things that really makes the difference in being well dressed and not. in an attempt to be slightly less casual, opting for a more structured pair of shorts, or basically anything that’s not denim is the way to go. these scanlan shorts are pretty darn awesome though, and they’re purple…
i just want to talk about hair for a moment. there is a hugely overwhelming sense of, i-want-to-cut-my-hair coming over me! but my lovely boyfy likes my hair long. so do i. but i think i’m using his love for my long hair as an excuse for keeping it growing! so I’m thinking i go for a significant cut, but still keeping it short? then i think about how it’s summertime, and my hair looks so much better when i’ve been swimming if it’s long! the length of it weighs down the poodleness of it slightly. also seeing rosie hungtington-whitely’s new do has altered my perspective once again, although, she is a blonde supermodel, which i am not, so i probably shouldn’t be making too many decisions based off her actions… thoughts?
merry belated christmas to all. (from my parent’s bathroom.)
maddy and i did a quick little shoot the other day, just to show off a couple of my christmas presents. must say, i’m pretty darn pleased with the little array of gifts i received this year. jordan did well with this amazing chocker that i’m obsessed with. maddy read my mind and got me a flouncy little off the shoulder number, and mum literally gave all four of her daughters this byredo sent. (which is delicious)
necklace: Assad Mounser
top: Seed Heritage
perfume: BYREDO Bal D’Afrique
lipstick: NARS Damned
there are very few times you will see me with my natural untamed mane, but it’s just felt right these last couple of weeks. i feel like i’ve had a lot of people comment on it, things like, ‘oh WOW dan look at your hair’ or ‘it looks so different’, and there comes a point where you hear so many comments you’re not sure if it’s genuine. you know when you’re natural response is to compliment something that you hate just to make it clear to that person that you have no ill feeling towards that particular thing. well, that’s how i’m feeling about my hair. then at the same time, i actually like it. don’t know. (curly hair girls will understand.)
i also wanted to comment on this necklace. it’s literally the coolest thing i own right now. they make such cool designs and really nice statement jewellery. they have actually invented the best idea for a necklace-doer-uper ever (don’t know the technical term.) but instead of a clip or a link, it’s a super strong magnet! it’s genius! easiest way to wear a necklace ever, and you don’t have to worry about it unclipping at some horrible point throughout the night! did i already say i am obsessed??
so, my last little banter before i let your brain rest from my word-vom. is that maddy and i are working on a new site right now, to create a much more beautiful blog and display our portfolio for our work. also easier for ya’ll to navigate and read the content. pretty excited. we have plans to work much more on our photography and makeup services next year. so i’m excited for 2015! watch this space for millions of photo shoots and fun fashiony things. woohoo. hope you all have an amazing new years and start the year with your friends and family around you with joy and love!!
