these boots. oh man. all i seem to care about these days, is finding great boots! i bought these the other day at zomp, after being a little disappointed at my previous visits. it was such a quick transaction. you know those moments when you begin to discuss the repercussions of the purchase and whether it is a wise investment, but you know no matter what is said, you’re walking away with the product? that was me with these boots. however the kind birthday contribution from maddy and bella was pretty encouraging.

also on my body is a groovy little plaid (don’t know if it’s plaid or chequered or what it is really?) shirt from urban outfitters. it’s so comfortable i want to sleep in it. also this vintage top that just hangs so awesomely on you. so slouchy i love it. and a crazy patterned pair of jeans. mixing prints is always a winner for me. it just makes the outfit that little bit more interesting. for me i think i like to have a contrast in structure, and slouch. like tight fitting denim with almost military like boots, then just hanging out in a loose top. i say these things though and will then probably contradict myself in the next post. one thing i do always like though, is to cover my crotch. i think it makes me legs somehow look longer, because you don’t know where they end. they could well end exactly at the hem of my shirt, or they could be going on for days. you’ll never know. but you have the option to imagine longer legs. i’m not sure if it’s working for everyone else, but the logic somehow makes sense to me! #shortlegproblems.

in other news, maddy and i have just started an official caboodle street instagram also. so if you’re interested in following us on multiple platforms and probably seeing a lot more inspiration type posts, then find us on the gram. we are ‘caboodlestreet’.

finally i get to show off my boots!!

i’m sure we could all recognise this trademark heel a mile off. but they’re just too cool. i’m so glad the weather has started to cool off so i can wear them. but, they have already worn down so much! it serves me right though. i don’t know what deluded thought proccess of mine warranted them appropriate snow boots while in new york. i think it was my fear of looking touristy (that and the fact i didn’t bring any other low boots!) that compelled me to wear them nearly every day. i can safely say they will be kept well out of the snow now that we are back home. this fur vest was another find while shopping in the lower east side. it was one of my many purchases that was on sale (unlike my boots!). the fur is so soft. like so soft. i wish every garment was this snuggly! infact, the store actually sported it’s very own pet rabbit (that we thought was just decoration). i’m pretty excited that the weather is getting colder. it’s much easier to wear all of your favourite items at once! and there are so many memories of new york in this outfit! i can’t believe how much i have thought about travelling since i have been home. i think it’s time for the next trip. why not, i mean we only have one world – may as well see what we can in the time that we have!

here’s to hoping i will be enjoying the monte carlo sun soon!

Knot just a dress

Dress: (as skirt) Boohoo
Top: ASOS
Boots: ASOS
Belt: Vintage YSL
Glasses: Le Specs

considering the age of everything i am wearing, nothing other than my new Boohoo dress is available to purchase anymore! when i bought this dress, i actually got it a little too small. so i love how tight it is around my waist, but not so much around my neck! to the point that i had to cut away at the neckline…but that’s another story for another time. however, i have been trying to think of ways to dress a little more modest. not that i’ve ever been one for cleavage and sassy, tight clothing. but i think being a young christian girl, it can be hard to find a good compromise when going to the clothing stores. especially when you have legs as short as mine! but apart from trying to match your morals, i think that super revealing clothing is just, well, not as cool as it used to be. people want to see style more than skin? i dono. anyway i think that layering has really helped me. lord knows i love a pair of short-shorts, but i usually pair it with a t-shirt. and i love a low back, or a thin strap, but usually with full length pants. so here is a classic example of layering a t-shirt over a dress, and knotting the skirt. something i often do. the little knot trick keeps the skirt long enough, but gives it a little shape. i don’t know. what do you think? we will continue to explore this. being beautiful and feeling feminine and cool, without literally showing the world your womanhood. ya feel?

say hello to my little friends.

correy & lyon – a beautiful new perth jewellery label. the kind of pieces that scream cool in a polite and understated kind of way. maddy and i were very excited to receive our correy & lyon mail the other day, and we just had to know a little more. so, with out further ado, let us introduce you to the brains (and fingers) behind this new creative work, kristy. here are just a few things we wanted to know…

Name: Kristy Correy

Born: I’m a child of the 80’s and a Valentine’s Day baby

Hometown: Perth

Siblings: I’m a middle child… Older sister and younger brother

Favourite musician/s:
I have a very eclectic taste in music, listening to everything from Beck to the new Beyonce album.

Favourite designer/s:
Nicholas Ghesquiere, Pheobe Philo, Kenzo and Acne are probably my favs at the moment.

Favourite travel destination:
New York, London and Berlin (I have family and friends in all these places)

What triggered the creation of Correy and Lyon?
I was living in Berlin for a while and all my friends there are in the creative industries and it inspired me to do my own thing again.

What made you decide to leap from your previous fashion ventures to jewellery?
I could never really find any jewellery that I wanted to wear on a daily basis so I decided to create my own and I also wanted a business that I could run from anywhere in the world.

How did you decide on the name?
The name is a homage to my family, it is my surname and my mothers maiden name.

What is your vision for Correy & Lyon?
Evolving the range and venturing into using stones and creating a few statement pieces and eventually expanding into other accessories.

What can we expect to see in the near future?
I have a handful of new designs that will be available within the next month that I am very excited about!

Where can we buy it?
