Jacket: LIVING DOLL
My apologies for the title. But, leather jackets are cool. They just are. I feel as though a leather jacket can be worn with any outfit, ever. Even when you’re posing in front of a senior’s lawn bowls club at sunset…
So, this dress is like a big sack and I really thought I wasn’t going to wear it because, don’t get me wrong, I love loose clothing and anything that allows me to stick my stomach out without it being noticed (ample food-baby space), but this was a little too far. I’m thinking of taking the hem up so I can wear it with a belt or just as a short loose sack. But I was playing around with it and seeing how I could wear it, and the knot thing seemed to work quite well. I actually bunched it all together and tied it with a hair band on the inside of the dress. The knot on the outside was a lil too bulbous! All you need is a rubber band and voila! A brand new dress that fits around yo little curves perfectly.
I’m not sure if anyone has noticed, but previously I enjoyed writing my blog posts all in lower case. There is some little side of my OCD that made myself believe that the sentences looked better when they were all on one level. That somehow starting with a capitol letter and not ending with a capitol letter was not symmetrical, and therefore not okay. On the other side of my OCD is the need for things to be at least somewhat grammatically correct and, well it’s time that I grow up and write with capitol letters where appropriate like the rest of the adult world. (Plus I was starting to write everything in lower case at work and that wasn’t really flying with the clients.) So, here I am, with all my start and stop sentences, made up words, and gangster abreviations, yet writing like a real adult.
merry belated christmas to all. (from my parent’s bathroom.)
maddy and i did a quick little shoot the other day, just to show off a couple of my christmas presents. must say, i’m pretty darn pleased with the little array of gifts i received this year. jordan did well with this amazing chocker that i’m obsessed with. maddy read my mind and got me a flouncy little off the shoulder number, and mum literally gave all four of her daughters this byredo sent. (which is delicious)

there are very few times you will see me with my natural untamed mane, but it’s just felt right these last couple of weeks. i feel like i’ve had a lot of people comment on it, things like, ‘oh WOW dan look at your hair’ or ‘it looks so different’, and there comes a point where you hear so many comments you’re not sure if it’s genuine. you know when you’re natural response is to compliment something that you hate just to make it clear to that person that you have no ill feeling towards that particular thing. well, that’s how i’m feeling about my hair. then at the same time, i actually like it. don’t know. (curly hair girls will understand.)
i also wanted to comment on this necklace. it’s literally the coolest thing i own right now. they make such cool designs and really nice statement jewellery. they have actually invented the best idea for a necklace-doer-uper ever (don’t know the technical term.) but instead of a clip or a link, it’s a super strong magnet! it’s genius! easiest way to wear a necklace ever, and you don’t have to worry about it unclipping at some horrible point throughout the night! did i already say i am obsessed??
so, my last little banter before i let your brain rest from my word-vom. is that maddy and i are working on a new site right now, to create a much more beautiful blog and display our portfolio for our work. also easier for ya’ll to navigate and read the content. pretty excited. we have plans to work much more on our photography and makeup services next year. so i’m excited for 2015! watch this space for millions of photo shoots and fun fashiony things. woohoo. hope you all have an amazing new years and start the year with your friends and family around you with joy and love!!
yep. you got it – skin season is upon us.
with this current weather, we need to be prepared. one day i will be wearing jeans and a jumper, and the next day i’m practically forced to show my skin in some way on some limb, and i freak out! i feel like this happens every year. it’s always a terrible push in the deep end. no learning to swim and wading in shallow waters – straight in! so, what i have been trying to do is show one main area of skin at a time. the whole singlet and shorts thing just isn’t going to work for me right now. in order for me to leave my house i need to be at least 60% comfortable with showing my skin. so i’m doing it in sections. today i opted for the legs as i thought they were a little lower than the average persons eye line. so, you know, less attention? not sure if the theory works at all, but it does in my mind. i must say however, my skin looks rather smooth with this little edit that i did on these pics. but don’t be fooled, a little fake tan and some nifty photoshop can make any pale, blotchy girl look ready for summer. but unfortunately we don’t all see through photoshopped glasses, we see reality. so, it’s official time to get this skin prep happening so we are all free to wear whatever we want! woohoo!
plaid shirt: BDG
black top: Vintage
jeans: Maurie and Eve
boots: Sempre Di
these boots. oh man. all i seem to care about these days, is finding great boots! i bought these the other day at zomp, after being a little disappointed at my previous visits. it was such a quick transaction. you know those moments when you begin to discuss the repercussions of the purchase and whether it is a wise investment, but you know no matter what is said, you’re walking away with the product? that was me with these boots. however the kind birthday contribution from maddy and bella was pretty encouraging.
also on my body is a groovy little plaid (don’t know if it’s plaid or chequered or what it is really?) shirt from urban outfitters. it’s so comfortable i want to sleep in it. also this vintage top that just hangs so awesomely on you. so slouchy i love it. and a crazy patterned pair of jeans. mixing prints is always a winner for me. it just makes the outfit that little bit more interesting. for me i think i like to have a contrast in structure, and slouch. like tight fitting denim with almost military like boots, then just hanging out in a loose top. i say these things though and will then probably contradict myself in the next post. one thing i do always like though, is to cover my crotch. i think it makes me legs somehow look longer, because you don’t know where they end. they could well end exactly at the hem of my shirt, or they could be going on for days. you’ll never know. but you have the option to imagine longer legs. i’m not sure if it’s working for everyone else, but the logic somehow makes sense to me! #shortlegproblems.
in other news, maddy and i have just started an official caboodle street instagram also. so if you’re interested in following us on multiple platforms and probably seeing a lot more inspiration type posts, then find us on the gram. we are ‘caboodlestreet’.
