well, it has been just over a month since bella and i returned from our wintery new york vacay. and i realised, i haven’t really said one thing about it. so here it is, my report on the world’s greatest city…
that was certainly my perception before arriving. if you’ve read my previous posts, you may recall me confessing my fear of new york not living up to my carrie bradshaw/woody allen/breakfast at tiffany’s type expectations. and honestly, the holiday was no comparison to these movie depictions. but. it was an absolutely amazing time.
we arrived early in the morning, and were greeted by JFK. not the most stunning of airports, but considerably bigger and more populated than perth! honestly that day was 1 degree celsius and we thought we had hit the antarctic. we were ignorant to the fact we were about the enter what we later knew as, the polar vortex, and 1 degree would be like a summer’s day. our coldest experience was walking to the new york public library in -12 with stupid ice cold winds. we were so cold. like freezing. like so cold we walked past grand central station and didn’t even realise… don’t judge. we were stressed. to add to our cold, i thought it would be a highly intelligent idea to not bring any flat boots with me. so, i wore my wang boots. like my brand new alexander wang boots through the dirty snow. not my best idea, but at least i looked good freezing my everything off.
but lord knows, even in freezing climates, we didn’t let anything stop us from shopping. i enjoyed the touristy things, but honestly, nothing compared to the shopping and great food that we experienced. some would say 3 and a half weeks of shopping and eating was the perfect new york experience. two wog girls unleashed in the city, it was like restaurant heaven! there are honestly a million stories to tell, i actually have no idea how to recount such an experience. but here are a few little pics i took on the one day my slr and i left the house together plus some iphone picos. i’ll slowly share my purchases with you as we move forward and in to slightly warmer weather! don’t worry, there won’t be anything i don’t show!
so, in summary, new york was bloody great. i can tell because i keep dreaming about it…
one of the greatest experiences of my life.

well, here’s something you don’t see every day.
me, in joggers. you see, i’ve always had this weird mindset when it comes to joggers. i’ve just never liked the way they looked. so much so that i only wore converses for so many years of my school sporting life! but, since everyone has been wearing groovy nikes and looking, well, groovy, i have decided to attempt this groove. i found these
groovy good looking sneakers at the Stella McCartney for Adidas store in miami. if i had known at that stage how much money was in my bank account, i probably wouldn’t have walked out with them. nevertheless, i was naive and wi-fi-less, so they are here and they are on my feet. i guess they are pretty sporty. like, i will wear them running (one day) but i somehow feel like the colour and the pattern makes them that much more fashion-y, and therefore acceptable for normal non-sport wear. i think i need to give this sport-chic look another go, in those times when i want to put on the old faithful all stars! but they are particularly more supported / bouncy / comfortable than my converses! those are my thoughts.
to doing things you never thought you would (even if it is only in relation to footwear)…

the other day i went shopping with noni, ready to spend (goodness knows why, i am meant to be saving!) but after so many failed attempts at buying a pair of boyfriend jeans (the search still continues) or dressy-casual shoes, we found ourselves at the supre warehouse store. it was actually the best decision we made all day, and despite only having 10 minutes until the store closed, i managed to leave that place with 5 items in hand, all for a grand total of $25! i was amazed that everything fit so well! isn’t it ironic, i’ve been there many times before and taken about 50 million things in to the change room and only come away with maybe 1 thing that fits properly, yet i go with 10 minutes and don’t try one thing on and they’re all great. silly. silliness of life. now, these shoes however were not such a fast or cheap experience. but, i really do love them. i think they were the perfect balance of dressy-casual that i was looking for. normally i don’t find myself really drawn to the ankle strap, just because it can really cut my little legs off, yet the double strap on these manage to somehow keep my legs at a reasonable length. that or i’m blinded by how much i like them. have no doubt you will see them appear again.
in other news, maddy and i are going to do a 30 day challenge coming up. they (whoever they are) say it takes 30 days to form a habit, so we are looking to blog every day for 30 days and hopefully by then we will be well and truly in the swing of things to blog every day for the rest of our lives! well, for a while. we will see how that goes. hopefully it goes nothing like the detox we recently embarked on. 7 days managed to shrink down to 1… i know, where is our self control? well you try eating fruit for 24 hours and see how much you just WANT A PEICE OF BREAD. wow. okay, i swear i’m over it. news on detox, diet, and other food related things coming to CASA soon!
