merry belated christmas to all. (from my parent’s bathroom.)
maddy and i did a quick little shoot the other day, just to show off a couple of my christmas presents. must say, i’m pretty darn pleased with the little array of gifts i received this year. jordan did well with this amazing chocker that i’m obsessed with. maddy read my mind and got me a flouncy little off the shoulder number, and mum literally gave all four of her daughters this byredo sent. (which is delicious)

there are very few times you will see me with my natural untamed mane, but it’s just felt right these last couple of weeks. i feel like i’ve had a lot of people comment on it, things like, ‘oh WOW dan look at your hair’ or ‘it looks so different’, and there comes a point where you hear so many comments you’re not sure if it’s genuine. you know when you’re natural response is to compliment something that you hate just to make it clear to that person that you have no ill feeling towards that particular thing. well, that’s how i’m feeling about my hair. then at the same time, i actually like it. don’t know. (curly hair girls will understand.)
i also wanted to comment on this necklace. it’s literally the coolest thing i own right now. they make such cool designs and really nice statement jewellery. they have actually invented the best idea for a necklace-doer-uper ever (don’t know the technical term.) but instead of a clip or a link, it’s a super strong magnet! it’s genius! easiest way to wear a necklace ever, and you don’t have to worry about it unclipping at some horrible point throughout the night! did i already say i am obsessed??
so, my last little banter before i let your brain rest from my word-vom. is that maddy and i are working on a new site right now, to create a much more beautiful blog and display our portfolio for our work. also easier for ya’ll to navigate and read the content. pretty excited. we have plans to work much more on our photography and makeup services next year. so i’m excited for 2015! watch this space for millions of photo shoots and fun fashiony things. woohoo. hope you all have an amazing new years and start the year with your friends and family around you with joy and love!!
every year my sisters and i tend to go through the same debacle – finding the right christmas dress.
perhaps that’s dramatic. perhaps it’s just christmas with your friends and family and no one really cares what you wear. or perhaps it’s one of the most special and delightful days with more than usual photographers around!
i feel the pressure of my aunty’s camera phones (ricci!) and the candid shots that haunt you as you are stuffing your face with turkey. so, in an attempt to keep the sepcial feeling of the day, and look semi-decent while devouring various foods, my family definitely put in a certain amount of effort when it comes to the christmas outfit. this dress here is from zimmermann, and was my christmas dress last year. unfortunately with my trip to new york i have held back on purchasing a new dress this year and will be hoping to find a gem at the back of my wardrobe. however, last year’s dress was a winner. pretty, shapely, but totally practical. let me tell you my top three essential details when picking a christmas dress:
1. a good shape from all angles! this is something we mostly look for in clothing anyway, but christmas is one of those photos from every angle kind of days and you want to make sure you don’t just look good from the front, but the back too (also any other possible angle your technologically challenged relatives could get to with their phones!) although you can’t see it in the photo, this dress has a low back and caused for a great reaction as i was seen from behind.
2. allow for stomach expansion! as this day you will probably consume your weeks worth of calories, it is wise to wear something that will allow you to eat to your hearts desire without having to tense your stomach muscles the whole day. something that comes in at the waist and poofs straight out generally allows for that lower belly to fully release. stay away from the body-con!
3. make you feel pretty! with the amount of mariah carey christmas carols that are played in my household, we are well and truly in to the christmas spirit before even dressing for the day. i don’t know about you, but christmas makes me think of summer fun! it’s literally a day that the whole world stops and spends together, which is actually pretty amazing when you think about the entire globe doing the same thing at the same time! i know i am an elf. a lame old christmas elf spreading christmas cheer. but it feels so special to me and that’s exactly how i want to look! so lace, florals, sparkles, jewels, they all add to the beauty of the day! (the bow belt on this dress also makes me feel like a present – which is awesome.)
so, i wish you all the success in the world when choosing your christmas attire this year. enjoy your family and friends and FOOD! for me, it’s just another day to celebrate how blessed we are to live in a country like australia and have the family and friends that we have! thank you god for bringing your son in to the world and giving me (and many others) hope and peace and joy! yay! i like those things!
t.shirt: Singapore (the real thing here)
loving these shoes guys.
i found this t shirt while shopping down singapore’s haji lane last year. it’s one of those givenchy inspired (rip off) printed t-shirts. various celebs (most of the gangsta persuasion) have been seen sporting givenchy tees for some time. really, any cool printed shirt with plain ol leather shorts is a pretty winning combo. this is the kind of thing i would wear to those in-between occasions. like a birthday lunch, or something of that dressy yet casual nature. that’s also why i have been obsessed with my new shoes. (insert love-heart-eyed smiley face.)
so i’m off to new york in 2 weeks. waaaaah. crazy i know. i am, i will say, slightly apprehensive about the cold weather. i’ve heard mixed reviews. some saying the cold won’t affect you and you will get on just fine, and others saying i may get hypothermia. so i think i just need to be prepared. but ah! snow! it will be the first time i have seen it since i was 3 – so the first time really experiencing it. prepare for some rather wintery-wonderland-type blog posts! on another note, i am quite enjoying the colour of my hair at the mo. i couldn’t hold down the blonde, and it was too dark when mum died it “back”, and right now, i am enjoying the ombre ranger gold kind of highlight thing that is happening. can’t wait to get my hair done in NY, but for now i am actually quite pleased, which is always always a good feeling.
